Northeastern Beach Tiger Beetle

Hey! How are you? I'm a Northeastern Beach Tiger Beetle. I need your help. I'm in danger, because my family and I have been eliminated from most of our range. My family has been crushed by foot and cars. I need you to tell your friends and family to watch out when they walk and drive, so they don't crush me.

My habitats are broad, sandy beaches. Like my name I'm referred to as a beach beetle. The sand must be at least 5 yards with sand high above the tide mark for me to live there. Now I want to tell you about my food and behavior. Oh, how rude of me, my name is Caroline. My food is dead fish, crab, smaller beetles, and small crustaceans. My highest population comes around July.

I'm a very active, large, cream-colored beetle. An adult has a bronze head, thorax, and paired dark cream-colored forewings, and long antennas.

If I was ever asked to describe myself I'd say I'm sand-colored. I have tan wings, and I may have dark lines. I could grow from ½ to 3/5 inches. Well ok I have to go now, I hope you enjoyed learning about me. Bye!
