Allegheny Woodrat

Nibble! Nibble! Oh hi, I didn't see you there. I'm Woody the Allegheny Woodrat.

Hold on tight we're going to take a ride through my life. First, I'm a medium sized rodent. I'm nocturnal too. My tail is very dense with hair. The top of my tail is brownish black and the bottom is white. I have long fur that is brown, gray, and the color of cinnamon. My belly and feet are white.

Now you should know what I eat in case I come to one of your sleep overs. Mostly I eat Plant materials like buds, stems and leaves. That really hits the spot. I also eat acorns, seeds, and fruit. My diet is very important.

I like to live in rocky places where I can't be seen. Don't judge me just because I'm a little shy. Caves and cliffs in forests is where you'll mostly find me. If we ever play hide and seek, don't remember I said that. My den is deep inside rock fishers. I make my nests out of sticks, twigs, and line shredded bark. My wife breeds in April & May. She carries her babies for 30 -37 days. She has 2-3 babies. Sometimes we breed in the early summer

I need your help... ASAP! My species is going, going, gone! One cause is HUMAN DISTURBANCE! Due to human disturbance my habitat is lost and my food is hard to find. You can help by not disturbing me and not cutting, building, and littering on my land. Please tell your human friends to be like a bee and buzz off!
