Often stereotyped as sinister and dangerous, bats are among the most beneficial animals for humans! They provide free pest control (a little brown bat can eat 3,000 insects a night) and indirectly help our health, agriculture, and water quality.

Today many of New Jersey’s bats are struggling to survive. Fifteen years ago a fungus attacked hibernating bats, leading to a disease known as white-nose syndrome. The disease disrupts hibernation, causing bats to use up their vital energy needed to survive the winter.

Join Conserve Wildlife Foundation biologist Ethan Gilardi on a lively Zoom talk exploring common myths and misconceptions about bats, spotlighting the current threats to New Jersey’s bats, and discussing what you can do to help them.
