Join us for a presentation about piping plovers, one of the state's most critically endangered bird species. Learn what is being done to protect and monitor them locally along the Jersey Shore, as well the fascinating story of their annual migration to and from the Bahamas. Our speaker has "greeted" them at both ends of their journey as part of his conservation research and outreach.
Todd Pover is the Beach Nesting Bird Project Manager for the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey. In that capacity he oversees the statewide monitoring, management, and research for at-risk shorebird species, such as piping plover, least tern, black skimmers, and American oystercatcher. He has been helping protect these species for over 20 years in New Jersey, and more recently has had a role in flyway scale conservation, in particular in the Bahamas.
