Pine Barrens Treefrog

Hi, I'm Spike. I'm a Pine Barrens treefrog. I am vibrant green and I have purple stripes starting at my snout and running through my eyes. I am two inches long. My home is in the Atlantic white cedar swamps, but I can live anywhere in the southeast part of New Jersey. My favorite foods are grasshoppers, crickets, and beetles. Most invertebrates are good though. Did you know that I have one-thousand brothers and sisters? Well I do! My mother laid us in a pond. Then in two weeks we hatch into tadpoles. One week later we grow legs and bam! We are out of the pond and into the huge world. In 1979 we were placed on the New Jersey endangered list due to minimal habitat and loss of breeding ponds. If we die the food-chain would be all mixed up! Also, if we die the population of my prey will increase. To help us you can stop polluting the water in ponds. Please, do what you can to help us live.
