Bald Eagle

Bald eagles are large and powerful birds with a wingspan of up to 6 to 7 feet and they can weigh up to 14 pounds! When they fly they keep their wings straight out so when they don't flap their wings, they glide. Also when they're at a far away distance you can still tell it's a bald eagle by the noise it makes. When bald eagles are five years old they are already adults. They eyes turn the color cream and their beak and feet turn yellow.

Adult bald eagles have already developed a white head and tail at the age of five or four. But when bald eagles are 1 or 2 years old their feathers are white, brown, and black. Also their nest can weigh up to 4,000 pounds! The endangered species program saw that the population of bald eagles was plentiful. So the endangered species program took the bald eagle off their list on August 9, 2007. But once they saw the population of bald eagles started lowering in the 48 states they put the bald eagle back on the endangered species list. Then the endangered species program started doing this to help the bald eagle. They banned DDT, they prevented the killing of bald eagles, they improved the water in lakes and river, they sold license plates, and they started protecting bald eagle nesting sites.
