In recent years, the black bear has been a symbol of controversy in New Jersey because of strong emotions regarding bear hunting. Yet the fascinating story of the black bear in the Garden State goes far beyond the latest headlines. As the largest land animal in New Jersey, and a global icon both beloved and feared, the bear is both the symbol of our remaining wilderness and a modern-day success story.

The program is facilitated by Kate Reilly, Duke Farms’ Manager of Education who will also provide information regarding some of the many environmental efforts that are conducted at Duke Farms.

Zoom Webinar

Join us with CWF Executive Director and renowned nature author, David Wheeler in a webinar about NJ’s elusive bobcat.

By the 1960’s, bobcats were virtually extinct in New Jersey due to habitat loss and hunting. Restoration projects in the late 70’s and early 80’s led to the reintroduction of 24 bobcats back into the state, and an inspiring recovery with bobcats now roaming the more rugged and remote regions of the state. Today, they are New Jersey’s only remaining wild cat and listed as one of NJ’s endangered species.

The program is facilitated by Kate Reilly, Duke Farms’ Manager of Education who will also provide information about how cameras are used at Duke Farms to learn about less commonly observed wildlife and their interactions.
