Join CWFNJ Biologist Todd Pover as he discusses New Jersey's elusive endangered beach nesting birds, Piping Plover, Least Tern, Black Skimmer, and American Oystercatcher. Although they share the same beach habitat to nest and raise their chicks, each species has its own unique behaviors and life cycle. Against all odds, these birds struggle to survive on some of the most heavily visited beaches on the East Coast - learn what CWFNJ and its partners are doing to protect them and recover their populations.

A Cape May County resident, Todd Pover is the Beach Nesting Bird Project Manager for the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey. In this capacity he oversees monitoring, management, and research for beach nesting birds for the entire state. This is his 23rd year working with this fascinating group of birds here in New Jersey, and more recently he has also begun studying piping plovers on their wintering grounds in the Bahamas.
